Today was a shit day. 

Once again a group of small-minded, small-hearted people caused an unjust amount of pain for so many. Today it happened in a great city, a city I called home for almost a decade.

This was terrorism. This was an attempt to inspire long-lasting fear, to destroy a local holiday, to crush a city's hope. It was a failure. Hundreds of lives were forever altered today, and nothing will change this horrible, horrible fact. But today's act of terror is a failure and will remain a failure, because of the people who came together and will continue to come together make a statement stronger than fear: people who open their houses to strangers, people who run towards explosions, people who love each other.

Boston is passionate city, beautiful and difficult and loving and ball-busting and boisterous and stubborn and unforgiving and fiercely loyal and a hell of a lot of fun. It is not a city to be fucked with. Being a city, Boston is at heart a disparate, rag-tag collection of people, and I love you people. I love you, Boston. Keep your heads up and stay safe.
